JD came over this weekend and we flipped the boat. It went much easier than I expected.

Fairing the hull is now under way. After the first coat, I am not sure if the hull is any smoother. This is going to take a VERY long time. My hands are numb from using the sander.

  2. Sorry for the REALLY delayed response. I modified the plans a bit here. Instead of making a stem at the bow, then a keel starting a bit back at an angle, I laminated them together at a right angle. Then I just shaped the front to about a 2" radius. figured this might lead to a more solid construction at the bow. I used a 2X4 (actual dimensions, not what is typically marketed as 2X4) for the center and 2X2s for the side pieces. All are made from Douglas Fir. I ended them about 1ft from the stern. The boat is SOLID, and these pieces should be more than adequate.
